We are calling out for scripts!! We are looking for any “Environment” related script. It need not be directly related to environment but rather have environment elements in the script. It can be of any genre (eg. Documentary, drama, horror etc ). Scripts with “Environment” elements would have preferences in the selection towards a Budgeted production.

So, why on earth the “Environment”?
Next year’s theme for the NUS Arts Festival 09 would be the “Environment”. Having the films themed under “Environment”, it would be a great exposure and highlight for both the films and the screening. You might have the chance of being potentially identified by guests during the screening. And of course apart from that, we will definitely send the films out for competitions through the normal channels of Film Festivals.

So what is budgeted and non-budgeted?
A budgeted film will be a film with a given sum of money and also would also taken on by an experience nuSTUDIOS crew set. Equipment would also be provided by nuSTUDIOS. The scriptwriter would also have the privilege of learning alongside our very own Resident Tutor Mr Lee Thean-jeen who is also a renowned TV Director in Singapore.

A non-budgeted film would not have allocated money, however equipment would also be supplied for the production subjected to availability. This non-budget production can take place among nuSTUDIOS members (both experience or not). The purpose of having this non-budget category is to give exposure and experience to anyone who has the interest in making film (whether it is his/her first time or not).

I don't have an "Environment" script. So HOW?
If you have no scripts related to the “Environment”, feel free to also send in your scripts!! =) We will be happy to receive it too!

Take note of the following:

Script Format:
It must be in proper script format! If you have difficulty trying to do it in proper format you might want to check out this programme called Celtx at www.celtx.com. It helps you with formatting too. It is free!

Timeline:
The deadline for scripts would be by 30 June 2008. This deadline is actually meant for scripts planning to go for production in December 08. The faster you send in your script, the faster your script will be potentially shot. However, if you can’t meet the deadline, you can always send in your scripts anytime but it will probably go into production at a later date.

nuSTUDIOS Film Camp June 2007 came to a successful close on 28th June, Thurs. On behalf of Kenny, Shing Kae, Meng Tat, Aik Hoe, Jia Jian, myself and the rest of the nuSTUDIOS steering committee we thank you for participating in this camp. It was truly our pleasure to organize this camp for you.

We sincerely hope all of you had a fun and enriching experience making your very own mini-productions. We hope this camp has helped you better understand how films are actually produced. We also hope this experience has enabled you to better appreciate all the hardwork put in to all the films, movies and other productions you see in future. We value the feedbacks you have provided us and will strive to make our future camps even better.

I'll also be placing the photos and video coverage (if possible) of our camp here soon. So do check back here when you free.

nuSTUDIOS is now calling out for scripts that can be produce into short or feature films!

Selected scripts will be further developed with the help from our resident tutor, Mr. Lee Thean Jean, who's an accomplished writer and director in the local TV industry.(Credits include Chase, The Singapore Shorts Stories, Alter Asians, and The Secret Lives of Sorry Stars. His company is called Film Formations.)

We will also be setting up a forum group soon to give writers a platform for other writers to look at your script and have other writers give you comments so that you can further improve and work on your script.

The deadline for the submission of script is on the Friday of Week 6 or 16 Feb 2007. We are having a close deadline because we want the selected scripts to undergo further development with Thean Jean and also so that we can apply for a SFC film grant (see http://www.sfc.org.sg/funding/funding_03.shtm).

After the scripts are selected, we will be having a crew gathering session or "script market" where the writers will look for their crew (e.g. producers, directors, dps, editors, etc) and interview them. The date for this event will be on the Friday of Week 8 or 9 Mar 2007. The venue will be announced later.

Calling out for scripts or ideas that can be made into a short/feature film! So aspiring film-makers take note!

We're now looking for scripts to be produced into nuSTUDIOS short/feature film! Also, if you have that burning idea but don't know how to start (or just too lazy to start writing), you can work with any writers out there who are interested in just writing for others! Send in your scripts or ideas NOW!!!

You may get a chance to further your script or ideas into full working scripts to be ready for the holiday productions (May to Aug or Dec) with the help from our resident tutor, Mr. Lee Thean Jean, who's an accomplished writer and director in the local TV industry. The script market will be held tentatively on the 20 Oct 2006 (details will be finalised at a later date).

We will have a script market session to ultimately select which submitted scripts will be made into a short film. Don't worry if you didn't make the cut, the script can be further developed and considered for future productions!

Basically, the process will be as follows:

• You write your script / treatment
• You submit your script to us
• We will look through all the submitted scripts and we will choose which are ultimately suitable (generally most will make the cut)
• Writers for selected script will come down on script market day to pitch the script to us
• We will consider and choose the final scripts for production (we looking at 2-3 scripts). The other scripts may be considered for further productions. So, in the meantime, it can be further developed.

Once the scripts are finalised, we will apply the script for a SFC film grant (see http://www.sfc.org.sg/funding/funding_03.shtm). Crews will be called from nuSTUDIOS. Production will then be held in the holidays.

If you have a script/treatment ready or is working on your script now, please submit your scripts to us by the 13 Oct 2006 (a week before script market).

If you have ideas but don't know how to start and would love to work with others on that idea. Please use the nu-mail to ask around for writers. If not, you can always approach us, and we can help you ask around for any writer to work with you. Don't worry! Or if you form groups within nuSTUDIOS and to try to make that short film together! Options are limitless! It's up to you to make the first move!
